Health Care
OVERVIEW
Triosyn can be added to virtually any product involved in health care. Finished products should reduce infection rates and meet the needs of hospitals and reduce the number of infection-related deaths.
Prevention of Infections (In general)
The Increasing Deficiency of Antibiotics
More than 70 percent of the bacteria that cause hospital infections are resistant to at least one of the antibiotics commonly used to treat them.
Hospitals Will Be Required To Pay
…for any infections caused by the patients’ stay in the hospital. “According to a recent Leapfrog study 87% of hospitals are not up to snuff at elimination of hospital–acquired infections (HAIs).
Almost 2 million people a year contract HAIs, and 90,000 of those die from them. About $15,000 per patient is added to the treatment cost for any HAI if treated while in the hospital.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid will deny hospitals payment under Medicare for the additional cost of treating patients who acquire a hospital caused infection.
DIFFERENTIATION
Triosyn is a solid-phase broad-range antimicrobial. As such, it can be incorporated into materials in a form such as beads, particulates, or as a powder. Other liquid antimicrobials may react with the substrate itself and cause a reduction in efficiency and an elevation in additive price. Triosyn can be added to the materials during different phases of the manufacturing process. Triosyn raw material has been shown to retain its antimicrobial efficacy for up to seven years.
Integration into the Manufacturing Process
Qualities of Triosyn:
Solid-phase
Broad-range antimicrobial (bacteria, fungus, mold, viruses)
EPA approved/registered
Non-hazardous waste
Non-toxic
Up to a seven year shelf-life
Beads, particles, and powder forms
Available in various concentrations
BASIC MATERIALS
Latex
Rubber
Plastics
Foam
APPLICATION AREAS
Urology
Catheters that are derived from latex or synthetics which incorporate Triosyn for urinary tract drainage provide:
A reduction in urinary tract infections
Improved patient care quality
Lower the overall patient care costs
Reduction in cross contamination
Suction Products
Suction catheters and related components used for surgical site and respiratory suctioning. Products that are derived from latex or synthetics which incorporate Triosyn provide a reduction of organisms such as bacteria, viruses and spores, leading to:
A reduction in patient infections
Lower overall patient care costs
Improved patient care quality
Reduction in cross contamination
Gloves- Surgical and Exam
Surgical and exam gloves are currently used to protect the wearer. Gloves are derived from latex or synthetic polymers. The introduction of Triosyn adds additional benefits not currently available. They are:
The ability to protect the wearer as well as the patient from cross contamination
Surgeons and nurses would benefit from additional protection from organisms incase of strike-throughs during surgery
Lower overall patient care related costs
Improved patient care outcomes through infection rate reductions
Surgical Packs and Gowns
Surgical packs and gowns are currently used to protect the patient and the wearer from exposure to bodily fluids and organisms during surgical procedures. They are derived from various synthetics materials which are optimized for certain features. The introduction of Triosyn into these products brings additional wearer and patient benefits:
Increased patient protection from organisms
Increased protection for the wearer
Lower overall exposure to cross contamination
Lower overall patient related costs
Improved patient care outcomes through infection rate reductions
