Government Applications

OVERVIEW

When missions require sustained MOPP protection in forward locations, soldiers can rely on the non-powered CBRN shelters to enhance effectiveness. After entering a clean environment, soldiers can doff their protective equipment, rest and hydrate in greater comfort inside the shelters, then don protective gear, exit the shelter, and resume operations. Soldiers occupying the shelter breathe normally, allowing heat, oxygen, and carbon dioxide to be exchanged.

Passive CBRN filtration allows air contaminated with chemical and biological agents to be cleaned as it passes into the shelter. The shelter’s multi-layer, low pressure drop filtration system is impregnated with the patented Triosyn iodinated resin compound that creates increased microbial attraction by physical and electrostatic means. As air passes into the shelter: Triosyn® resin prevents microbial migration by oxidizing biological threats; HEPA rated electrostatic media maintains 99.97% filtration efficiency; and military grade ASZM-TEDA carbon eliminates chemical agent threats.

APPLICATIONS
CBRN Shelters

The CBRN shelters provide easy to set-up, non-powered, collective protection through the use of breakthrough technologies.

The shelters are a collaboration of Alaska Tent & Tarp, Triosyn Corp. and the Army’s Natick Soldier Center. The shelters utilize the Triosyn® membrane, which is non-toxic to humans and devitalizes airborne infectious microorganisms, with two other membrane filters: one that filters airborne radioactive particles and another reactive carbon membrane that filters chemical threats. The non-powered CBRN Shelters eliminate cumbersome external power supplies, environmental control, and filtration units by incorporating filter media into the body of the shelter. The low air resistance filtration composite allows air exchange while providing protection against chemical, biological, and residual nuclear attack. Air exchange is accomplished through the breathable panels designed into the structure.

The shelters take advantage of Triosyn’s microbiocidal efficacy and are non-toxic to humans. The proven shelters and passive CBRN technology meet the requirements of the JECP (Joint Expeditionary Collective Protection) program.
